Lucy's workshops are based on two-person ‘scene studies’.
She begins by handing out each pair of participants the script of a scene from a play. The scripts are chosen for the possibility of interaction between actors on a human level.
Each couple has a chance to read through the scene and we answer any question about story line they may have.
Every pair then gets a chance to work with Lucy in front of the group – this work may take fifteen to twenty five minutes – it of course varies with the number of people in the group and time constraints.
She is not interested in giving directions such as ‘move upstage’ or ‘don’t turn your back to the audience’ in this work. The focus is on enabling the actors to find that moment of authentic human interaction between two people. The text is just a way of accessing this state.
Some terms you will hear us use are energy, space, reaction, presence, listening and being in the moment.
The process is exciting and challenging. |
